Poor roads in Costa Rica? |

Costa Rica's traffic at first view seems completely chaotic. Appearances are not deceiving, as it is especially in San Jose, a large disorganized mess with streets without names and constantly changing one way streets directions. In the urban parts of the country, where the preponderance of the traffic is, the majority of the roads are paved. However, this does not always ensure that the road's surface will be flat; maintenance in Costa Rica leaves something to be desired. If one goes anywhere else on the country side, you will discover a combination of paved and unpaved roads. A 4x4 Car with a driver(which is available at very reasonable rates at Manu) is recommended for visitors who are not accustomed to driving in developing countries. If you are the adventures type and decide to rent your own car we can help you with advice on reliable rental companies We can also arrange the 4x4 rental for you with pickup at the Airport in San Jose or Quepos. We strongly advice you to pick a reliable company with well maintained 4x4 vehicles since the roads in and around Dominical and the rest of the southern pacific coast are mostly four wheel drive especially in the wet season. Some former guests had to change their rental car twice in one week due to the poor state the cars where in! |
