Telecommunication?

The telephone system in Costa Rica is not as simple and reliable as those in many other countries. Manu villas and Spa has currently no fixed telephone lines available due to our remote location but also due to the "Pura Vida" attitude of ICE the main and only government owned telephone company. The town below just received land-lines 2007! So far there was only one public telephone available. We do have pretty good cell phone coverage at Manu villas and we also have a cell phone available for emergency calls. Mobile telephones in Costa Rica in our area are of the GSM standard (prevalent in Europe and Asia). Should you desire to have mobile phone service during your time in Costa Rica, you are welcome to bring your own GSM phone that is roam-enabled for Costa Rica, or we can arrange for the rental of a GSM phone during your stay. We also have a top of the line VSAT Satellite internet dish which is able to deliver download speeds of up to 16 Mbit/sec (really, really fast!) depending on the plan we purchase. We usually only have the basic package installed so if you need really high speed from 1 Mbit/sec upwards please advice early so we can upgrade in time. Prices for business packages are USD 500,- and up depending on the required speed.
