Tropical living?

All of our villas are 'tropical open-style' villas which maximise on the local breezes by natural ventilation. This refers to having rooms within houses that do not have closed walls and are open to the outside either only trough mosquito netting instead of glass windows or by big vents in the roof structure.  From a security perspective there is nothing to be concerned about because we are located far away from the next neighbor and  are located on a spacious end of the road property which is surrounded by dense tropical rain forest. One thing that is more difficult to control is the surrounding tropical environment and its animals. Despite daily cleaning and the judicious use of pesticides, insects and such will occasionally intrude upon the space you have rented (as they would in any other type of accommodation in the tropics). This, however, is not a major problem as can be evidenced by the large amount of homes that have been designed and continue to be designed along these 'open-style' lines. In fact, the revolutionary architecture in relation to those of more northern climes, is one of the aspects of staying in the tropics that people remember most.
