National Parks Costa Rica | Manu Villas and Spa Costa Rica
For a small country like Costa Rica, it is hard to imagine more National Parks than what are available in Costa Rica. In fact, the National Parks and protected areas of Costa Rica contained some of the best sites of the country's natural and cultural heritage. There are a total of 107 National Park units which the country has divided into 11 conservation areas. These national parks -- which include beaches, mountains, volcanoes, wetlands, and the islands -- protect over 221 mammal species, 830 bird species, 150 amphibians, about 200 reptiles, and over 1,000 types of fish. In addition, although the number plant species is difficult to estimate, many people have estimated it to be in the many thousands. Indeed, for travelers to Costa Rica, the National Parks are natural gems that all people must visit--they are one of the main “hearts” of Costa Rica.
